For no good reason at all, I am in the anonymous meme here.

Look, I'm alive! I really do check my flist daily, but I'm terrible about updating...I have nothing much interesting to say about my life, at the moment, and my fandom affiliations have changed entirely in the last year. Still, I love hearing from all of you, and...I promise I'll update with something of relevance soon. Really. =P *FAIL*

Ugh. I am definitely fighting something off (an expression which made [livejournal.com profile] lheena picture me battling off a tiny soldier), and I've spent most of the day asleep. I had bizarre Stephen King-esque dreams of being chased by childhood bullies, all of whom had been possessed by an evil demon, and I have no idea just what my subconscious is trying to tell me. o_O

And, because everyone else is doing it, put things in my e-stocking! Hee. )

Stolen out of morbid curiosity from [livejournal.com profile] piscaria:
My seduction style is apparently... )

....Yep. I think that pretty much sums it up, sadly enough. =P

Book Meme
(snatched from [livejournal.com profile] piscaria)
List the first sentence of ten of your favorite novels, without revealing the title or author.
Then see if your friends list can guess what they are.

One of these is always an immediate giveaway.

1. Once, in a kingdom called Delain, there was a King with two sons.
2. The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone. The Last Unicorn, by Peter S. Beagle. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] andersenmom!
3. Suppose that you and I were sitting in a quiet room overlooking a garden, chatting and sipping at our cups of green tea while we talked about something that had happened a long while ago, and I said to you, "That afternoon when I met so-and-so...was the very best afternoon of my life, and also the very worst afternoon."
4. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from a girl named Martha, a junior at Mount Sebastian College in New Jersey.
5. On an exceptionally hot evening early in July a young man came out of the garret in which he lodged in S. Place and walked slowly, as though in hesitation, towards K. Bridge.
6. Bishop Farm lay a mile northeast of Litchfield in a long, slow valley easy with oaks and meadows.
7. There is a silence that cannot speak.
8. Rain. It fell steadily on the city of Hypprux, a promise of the coming spring, but a cold, grudging one to be sure.
9. We slept in what had once been the gymnasium. The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood. Guessed by [livejournal.com profile] trigeekgirl!
10. The boy with fair hair lowered himself down the last few feet of rock and began to pick his way toward the lagoon.

I admit that I had a little trouble finding ten, and I'm sure some of them are too obscure to recognize (I added the second line of 8 for just that reason). There are a lot of books I LIKE, but very few books that I love, which is indicative of my personality as a whole, I think. I shall post the answers to those numbers unguessed in a day or two, for the curious. ^_^

I also think that though it isn't my favorite book, I should really include my favorite first line of all time:
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

From The Gunslinger, by Stephen King. ^^

What type of Fae are you?

I think my favorite part of the answer is "unstable." Haaa. The other answers have much prettier artwork. Huff.
lyricality: (lumpy sort of fluff thing)
Thank God, thank God for chai, without which I would still be staring aimlessly at the computer screen, wondering why on earth I was still trying to be awake. Well. Not real chai, but Celestial Seasonings makes for a reasonable facsimile, with the addition of some milk and a bit of honey. Now if only I could actually figure out where I packed my coffee maker (yes, this is particularly sad, because I have lived here for two years, and never once used it) my need for early-evening caffeine would be well and truly filled.

I have been working on the same piece of art for two full weeks. x_X I would be far more ashamed of myself, except that this is something of a new technique for me, and one I need desperately to learn if I really want to do concept work for games. I'm enjoying the process, but I'm also impatient for the final result. It's sort of amusing to be impatient with yourself. =P

Because I have been tagged by possibly everyone on my f-list, here is that book meme:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people except that all of you have done it already, so I tag NO ONE. Muahaha?

Mine is:
You will need to reposition the two groups slightly so that they meet the center of the tanks properly. Select and group all objects and name the new Null object Engine Parts 1. Add an array object to your scene, name it Engine Array and then drop Engine Parts 1 into it. The group will immediately duplicate around the central Y-axis using the Array object default options.

...Okay, that happened to fall right in the middle of a very boring tutorial about 3D modeling. The next actual chapter with interesting words is a few pages later in Martin McKenna's Digital Fantasy Painting Workshop, and goes like this:
As an artist I've always loved the macabre. As soon as I could wield a crayon, no wallpaper was safe from my drawings of malignant monsters. It might be my first memory of television that was the cause, which just happened to be an episode of Doctor Who. This set me off on a splendidly terror-filled journey with the series throughout my formative years, memories of which remain resonant and hugely inspirational.

I have a writing meeting tomorrow with [livejournal.com profile] andersenmom, which brings me great joy. I vow to actually get writing done. >.> No, really. THIS TIME I WILL PREVAIL. Also, the job front is looking up somewhat, so without jinxing it, I will hope for good things next week. ^^

A few things, today!

First of all, the OTP Meme, for which [livejournal.com profile] killerbeautiful tagged me, wheeee. Let's see. My fandoms are peculiar and varied...

CatCF: Charlie/Wonka. Chan is not my preference, I admit, and I usually better appreciate fics etc. where both parties are consenting adults.

HP: Snape/Lupin. No, it's not "in fashion" and it never will be, but I make no apologies. I'm also fond of Bill/Lupin...and...while I have never, ever seen it anywhere except in my twisted fantasises...Moody/Lupin.

SW: Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, ftw. Variations of Luke/Leia/Han rather please me, as well.

Gravitation: Sakuma Ryuuichi/Shuuichi Shindou. Pity that I've only ever seen one fic with the pairing. I imagine they would be a lot healthier for each other than Yuki/Shuuichi, in any case. >.>

YuGiOh!: Yami/Yugi and Yami/Yugi/Kaiba. I always thought Yugi/Judai had potential as well, after the end of GX.

Yami no Matsuei: Tsuzuki/Hisoka, purrrrr.

FFVII: Cloud/Vincent, Cloud/Aeris. The second more platonic, the first more physical.

Slayers: Xellos/Zelgadis. This pairing seems to have fallen out of favor recently, as well.

Lady in the Water: Story/Cleveland and I never said this, because I'm equally pleased at the lack of a traditional romance in the film. There is probably no logical way to resolve those two impulses. x_X

Moving right along, [livejournal.com profile] andersenmom demands (well, nicely!) to know what I thought of FFVII: Advent Children, which she was kind enough to lend to me this week. ♥

If there's anyone in the entire world who hadn't already seen this except for me, I haven't met them, but cut nevertheless for SPOILERS... )

Okay, end of rambling review. Today I must send off resumes etc. for at least two jobs, and possibly go to the mall and apply for jobs outside my field, probably in retail. Ugh. Dealing with people face to face requires me to adopt a very exhausting, outwardly pleasant sort of mask. Well, money is money, and at least jobs like that are largely temporary, useful while I'm looking in the game development field.
lyricality: (Nicodemus)
I now give you the answers to [livejournal.com profile] piscaria's letter-meme. She gave me the letter "N" (and not "Q." Thank you ^^):

1. Nittle Grasper, from Gravitation, yeee.
2. Night, in general. It's restful.
3. Nefertiti, an especially interesting Egyptian queen (with a quite famous visage).
4. Neville Longbottom, one of my favorite HP characters.
5. Nelvana. I wish I controlled every cartoon ever to come out of Canada. o_O
6. New Age music. Not all of it, of course, but Brule (one of my favorite bands) is classified under New Age.
7. Nuts! Especially cashews. God, cashews. *craves*
8. Neverending Story, both the book and the movie. ♥
9. Notes from the Underground, which makes an excellent background for Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment.
10. Nuriko, from Fushigi Yuugi.

In other news, I've been considering writing a series of essays/articles as a guide to roleplaying. Would anyone actually be interested in such a thing? Or would it just be obnoxiously pretentious? Be honest, please. >_e
lyricality: (wonka: let's boogie)
I hath been tagged for this meme:

Name 15 fictional characters you would have sex with (in no particular order, add reasons if you wish) and then tag 4 people to do the same.

1. El Mariachi. Guh.
2. Dimitri, from Anastasia.
3. Sherlock Holmes. Yes, I freely admit that not only the fictional requirement would probably make this impossible.
4. Willy Wonka. Not just the Depp-version, either. Feel free to look at me in variations of this expression: o_@
5. Dana Scully. I've always had A Thing.
6. Ellie Arroway, from Contact. Jodie Foster characters are a whole other Thing, in fact.
7. Jareth, the Goblin King. Definitely one of my first serious crushes, haaaa.
8. Obi-Wan Kenobi. This was awfully slow to develop, but I can hardly deny it anymore. Thanks a lot, Anita. =P
9. Rob Roy MacGregor. Pardon me, I'm being overwhelmed by helplessly instinctive femininity for a moment. asldfjalfjljfalsdjfla;
10. Emma Peel, from the original Avengers TV series. The remake can bite me--Uma Thurman is a pale shadow indeed to Diana Rigg.
11. Raskolnikov, from Crime and Punishment. Another painful crush.
12. Qui-Gon Jinn, and I'm sure I could stop naming Liam Neeson characters anytime now, except that I CAN'T.
13. Justin. Yes, he is a rat. In The Secret of NIMH. I can't imagine why you're looking at me like I should be in an institution.
13. Captain Jack Sparrow, of course.
14. V. He might not be capable, but one can always dream.
15. Nathaniel Hawkeye, from Last of the Mohicans. Because just.... *inarticulate sounds*

And in turn I tag...[livejournal.com profile] halogirl8, [livejournal.com profile] ceilidh, [livejournal.com profile] laseroption, and [livejournal.com profile] piscaria, FTW.

In other news, today I saw a boy walking his ferret. In the park. It was unexpected, but cute as hell, really. I love the way ferrets move, just sort of bouncing around all liquid-like and poking their weaselly noses into everything. ♥
